What should be taken into account with Android version

  • Works on phones & tablets with Android version 6.0 or later. Your device needs to have Bluetooth Smart (BLE 4.0. or later) capability.
  • Some Android devices recommend you to allow the app to use device’s location service. This is NOT for locating your kid, but for a better Bluetooth connection to the sensor. Allow location permission, otherwise the device will refuse to connect to the sensor.
  • Some Android devices may request ”smart lock” enabling, which should be allowed.
  • Some Android devices may ask to add the sensor to trusted Bluetooth devices, which should be allowed.
  • We have tested most popular iOS and Android devices that have Bluetooth Smart (BLE 4.0. or later) capability.

How to create an account in ReimaGO?

Do I need credentials (username & password) to use the app?

The app connects to the network through the device, and the user creates a username and password when starting to use the app and the sensor for the first time. The user also needs a Bluetooth connection to the sensor as well as a functioning connection to the Internet.

Are the credentials I create good for ReimaGO® only?

Yes. For safety, please create unique credentials for ReimaGO, not the same ones you use for some other app.

Can I download the ReimaGO app on any device?

ReimaGO app works on iPhone or iPad (iOS 9 or later) and Android (Android 6.0. or later). In order to read the sensor, your device needs to have Bluetooth Smart capability (not featured in iPad generations 1 & 2).

Can I use my ReimaGO Family Account with several devices?

Yes, you can. After you have created the Family Account, you can give the credentials to other family members so that they can access the account, too. They first need to upload the app into their device and sign in using the credentials. Then they are able to view the kid profiles in the app, see how far they’ve progressed and how many points they have gained, and set rewards and log activities.

However, remember that a sensor can only be paired with one device. This means that you can only connect and upload activity points from the sensor using the device where you first created the kid profile.

Where can I get a ReimaGO® sensor and the clothes to go with it?

ReimaGO sensors and the clothing collection are offered to retailers globally, in all Reima’s market areas. They can also be acquired in autumn 2016 through Reima® web stores in Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Germany, Poland, Russia and China.

What are the language choices in the app?

The app supports English, Russian and Chinese.

How to add my kid to the app & connect to the sensor?

How many kids can I have in one app, if all the kids have their own sensors?

There is no maximum limit, so you can have as many kids on the same device as you like.

What does the sensor do?

ReimaGO® sensor follows and records movement. Is not about monitoring heart rate or counting calories – it measures the intensity and duration of physical activity and steps. The more vigorously you move, or the longer you do it, the higher your scores.

Can I connect to several kids’ sensors at the same time?

No, you need to pair the sensors one at a time, one after another. As soon as your mobile device says the connection is confirmed, you can create the other kid profile and start to pair another sensor.

Why can’t I connect the sensor with multiple devices?

For security reasons, a sensor can only be paired with one device. This means that you can only connect and upload activity points from the sensor using the device the sensor is currently connected to.

By limiting the sensor to connect to only one device at a time, we secure that no other Bluetooth device can high-jack the data in the process. By restricting the amount of devices, we also enable a more streamlined and faster syncing process.

I wish to connect the sensor to another device. How do I do this?

In order to transfer kid's activity data to another device, please follow these instructions:

  1. Go to the kid’s profile in settings. Tap on “Edit kid profile”  and select “Disconnect sensor”.
  2. Open the battery case with a coin, turn the battery upside down in the battery holder and press it down for about 10 seconds. Turn the battery face up and close the lid.
  3. Log in to the ReimaGO app with the other device. Go to the kid’s profile in settings. Tap on “Edit kid profile” and select ""Connect sensor”. Make sure that you are connecting the right sensor to the right profile.

I cannot connect the sensor to my device, what should I do?

  • Remember to follow the instructions during synchronizing and pairing the sensor and your device.
  • Make sure that the sensor is not connected to another child or device. The sensor can only be connected to one child or device at a time.
  • If the sensor has been connected to another child or device before, reset the sensor’s data before taking it into use again. How to do it: Open the battery case with a coin, turn the battery upside down and press it down for about 10 seconds. Turn the battery face up and close the lid.
  • If the problem continues, please contact our customer service.

I wish to give the sensor to another kid. How do I reset the sensor?

How do I reset the sensor?

There are three steps needed to reset the sensor:

In order to transfer kid's activity data to another device, please follow these instructions:

  1. Go to the kid’s profile in settings. Tap on “Edit kid profile”  and select “Disconnect sensor”.
  2. Open the battery case with a coin, turn the battery upside down and press it down for about 10 seconds. Turn the battery face up and close the lid.

  4. Now the sensor can be paired again with another device, if you wish, or you can connect it to another kid’s profile. Follow the instructions given by the app.

How to set a reward in the app for my kid?

How do I reward my kid?

We strongly recommend parents would set rewards for kids in the game, as it motivates kids and makes using the app more fun. You can set rewards for your kid in settings. You should first select the kid to be rewarded, and then tap on the reward icon on the top right corner. There are two kinds of rewards: you can use preset icons, or set your own rewards. If you choose to set your own, you can select a picture from the photo gallery on your device or take a new one. To activate the reward, you must decide how many checkpoints your kid must achieve before getting this reward.

Is there a way to see the rewards I have set?

You can view the rewards in the trophy room after your kid has achieved the target set for the reward.

Can I remove or edit rewards I have set?

Not yet at this stage, but the possibility will be added to later releases of the app.

What kind of rewards and trophies are there?

There are rewards that can be set by parents. They can be set on the map in an arbitrary order and kids get them when they reach the rewards. Once the kid reaches the end of a level (one world), the app rewards the kid with a trophy. Each world has its own Trophy badge. The ribbons around the badges will start changing colour one by one after kids have completed eleven worlds. All trophies are stored in the Trophy Room.

Is there a maximum amount of rewards – can one play enough to fill all shelves of the trophy room with awards so there is no room left for more?

In theory yes, if you do nothing else but play, but probably the game will update itself with more room for trophies before you can get it full.

How to change the kid’s profile information & add more kids?

We have many kids and want them all to have to have their own sensors. How do I know which ones is whose?

You can personalize the sensors with different kinds of stickers. To avoid damaging the sensor shell, don’t use paints or glues for customizing.

You can still identify the sensors later even if you choose not to customize them: Each sensor has a unique 10-digit sensor ID, which is written on the backside of the sensor, under the battery cap. When you create a profile for your kid and connect it with the sensor, the app verifies the connection by using this special ID. If you need to check each kid’s sensor ID later on, you can check it from the app: go to settings > select a kid > click on the little white “GO” icon on the top right corner of the screen.

Playing ReimaGO

How long will it take to get through one level?

One level is one virtual world, and playing it takes approximately one week, depending how well you achieve your daily target– the distance between two checkpoints on the path equals one day’s activity target. In order to reach the next checkpoint, you need to achieve your daily target.

If you change your kid’s daily target, the change will be reflected in the game immediately and will affect your kid’s progress when the sensor is next synced.

Why can two kids doing exactly the same activity get different points?

The amount of points achieved is tied to the daily target. One kid has a daily target of 30 min, another has 2 hours. Each kid therefore has their own schedule for progress, which shouldn’t be compared to that of another kid.

How do I get my mobile device to read the data from the sensor?

Before starting to use ReimaGO, you need to activate the sensor and to connect the sensor with your mobile device. Follow the instructions in the user manual or our tutorial video to do this. The process takes a few minutes.

Can my kid fool the sensor?

The sensor measures the intensity of movement, but cannot distinguish explicitly whether the kid is running, walking or jumping. Therefore, it can be fooled by placing it on a wheel or on top of a moving device. However, the game does have a maximum amount of rewards per day. This means that a player can only get a limited amount of rewards by cheating.

When does the game end?

Based on activity, kids proceed with the game and get fun rewards. The game never ends, but offers intermediate goals for the player.

Do I need to sync the sensor every day?

No, it records the daily data automatically and you can sync e.g. once a week. It takes the time zone and clock information from the mobile device. If you travel to the other side of the world and don’t sync during your trip, it will record the data according to the time zone where you last were when you synced it.

How often can I read the data from one sensor during one day?

You must keep a 30 minutes break before you can again read the activity data from the sensor. We have set this limit to optimize the battery life. So during 24 hours, you can read the activity data 48 times.

How much activity data can the sensor store, before I have to connect and “empty” it into the app?

With approximately 6 hours of active movement/day, the sensor should be connected once a week.

Can the sensor be put into a regular pocket, instead of the special ReimaGO® pocket?

Yes, you can keep the sensor in any pocket. However, the activity data may not be as accurate as the sensor may move quite a lot inside the pocket if there are no press studs to attach it to. The best place for the sensor is close to the torso.

What if I forget the sensor in its pocket and it ends up in the washing machine?

No worries, the sensor is water resistant up to 30 m.

Why did our ReimaGO sensor stop working when we were skiing?

In very cold conditions, all batteries can temporarily lose their charge. This happens often to mobile phones, too. Our recommendation is that in very cold sub-zero temperatures you carry the sensor in the pocket of an inner garment, or wear it on an arm band under the outerwear. The battery will regain its charge level once it warms up again.

Can I track my kid’s location with the ReimaGO® sensor?

No you can’t. ReimaGO doesn’t include a GPS antenna so the sensor won’t work as a location device. Reima is looking into the possibility to add this functionality to the product in the future, but it will require a 2nd generation of sensors and more research & development. Why not? In this first phase, we wanted to prioritize the sensor’s usability as an activity tracking device. If we were to add the location tracking system into the current sensor, its battery consumption would increase 50-fold.

If the sensor gets lost, will my kid’s activity data be safe?

Yes, all the data that has already been transferred to the application will be safe. You can buy a new sensor and connect it to your existing user account, but please contact ReimaGO support so that you don’t have to create a new profile for the kid.

If the phone or pad that I use for reading the data from the sensor gets lost, what can I do?

You can reset the sensor and then you can pair it with your new device. Don’t worry, the activity data will be safe on our server. You just need to remember your credentials and use the same family account you used before.

How can I view technical sensor information in the app?

There are two ways: you can tap on the little GO icon on the upper right corner of the kid’s profile screen, or go to “edit kid’s profile” and select “sensor”. In order to get real time information of the sensor (sensor ID, battery lifetime, last sync, firmware version), you need to have the sensor close by and be able to connect to it via Bluetooth. If your sensor firmware needs an upgrade, the app will notify you and the “start upgrade button” will become active.
